On Monday, a system will exit the Northeast, while a system continues to affect the West. System wand lake effect snow will be likely in the Northeast. Highest accumulations will be found from New York with lake effect snow to Maine with the system snow. In the West, a system will continue to push through the region. Snow will be likely in the higher elevations, and rain in the lower elevations. Below is the thunderstorm and snowfall outlook for Monday.

On Sunday, a system will continue to affect the Northeast and Great Lakes, while a system continues to push onshore in the West. Rain will be likely along coastal sections of the Northeast, a system moves up the coast. Snow will be likely in interior areas. Lake effect snow will be likely in the Great Lakes. Accumulations will be likely in the Northeast and downwind of the Great Lakes. In the West, a system will continue to push onshore. Rain will be likely in the lower elevations and snow in the higher elevations. Accumulations are likely. Below is the thunderstorm and snowfall outlook for Sunday.

February 20-23rd 2009 Plains/Midwest/Great Lakes/Northeast Winter Storm

Friday-Monday Plains/Midwest/Great Lakes/Northeast Winter Storm

On Friday and Saturday, a system will work east from the Plains and into the Great Lakes. Snow will be likely on the north side of the system. Lake effect snow will also be likely behind the system. The highest accumulations will be found in portions of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This system will weaken as it heads into Canada. Energy from the first system will then transition off the Atlantic Coast, where a coastal storm will develop and work up the Northeast Coast. Snow will be likely late saturday into early Monday. Lake effect snow will also be likely behind this system in the Great Lakes. The highest accumulations will be found from New York up into Maine where up to 2 feet of snow may fall.
