Wednesday’s Weather Outlook; Great Lakes/Ohio Valley/Mississippi Valley/Plains System, High Plains System

On Wednesday, a system will push eastwar dintot he Great Lakes, while a disturbance moves throug the High Plains. Showers and storms will be likely across portions of the Plains, Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes, associated with a system moving through the Great Lakes. There is a slight risk for severe storms in portions of Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennesse, Mississippi and Alabama. Several MCS’s will be ongoing from Michigan down into Kansas during the Morning. These complexes will quickly weaken during the Morning. In the Afternoon new storms will develop along the cold front from Michigan down into the Panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas. Some of the storms may become severe in portions of the Great Lakes, as CAPE values will be around 1500 J/Kg, LI’s of -4 and Effective Bulk Shear valeus of 25-55KT. Limited instibility and weakening shear and forcing through the day, will limit the treat. Which will preclude a sligth risk from being issued. The main threats from any storms that become severe will be damagign winds, haila nd an isolated tornado. Further south from Southenr Illinois into Southeast Colorado and Northeast Ne wMexico; CAPE values will be around 5000 J/KG, LI’s of -11 and Effective Bulk Shear values of 25-70KT. Severe storms will develop in the afternoon along and ahead of the cold front from Illinois back into the Colorado and New Mexico area. These storms may grow upscale into one or more MCS as they push southeast through the Evening, before weakening overnight. The main threats from the severe storms will be damaging winds, hail and an isolated tornado. Along the Gulf Coast, pop up Afternoon showers and storms will be likely. A few storms may be severe. With limited instibility, shear and forcing, the severe threat will be limited. The main threats from any storms that become severe will be damaging winds and hail. Across portions of the High Plains from Montana into the Dakotas, showers and storms will be possible as a disturbance quickly move through the region. A few storms may be severe.
